If you've been to O'Connor Art Studios recently, you might have noticed that the 7 foot clay sculpture of King Kamehameha is now looking a little different! It no longer has it's complete look, as it has undergone the process of getting completely covered with urethane and plaster. Inferno Art Foundry from Atlanta sent it's mold maker to our studio to undertake this part of the project. Read the captions to learn a little more about the process.
Next will be a visit to the foundry to finalize a few details in the wax phase. Then the bronze is poured. The final product will be sent over seas to Ka'anapali Resort on the island of Maui. Unveiling will be done later this year for the grand opening of the new resort and gardens. A special thanks to Paul Lucchesi who helped sculpt the clay for a solid 3 weeks of intense work! Stay tuned for more images of the final product.
